Wow! These are possibly the most beautiful roller skates on the market. The wheels are like lollipops and they have a vintage retro feel. If you would like to know more about these beautiful Moxi Lolly roller skates including comfort, ease of use for beginners, how long they are likely to last, the quality of the parts, what they are like to skate in, please read on!
First Impressions – Moxi Lolly Roller Skates
These skates are delivered in a beautiful vintage/retro looking box (pictured below). They are each wrapped in a clear bag. The skates are not laced. They are heavy and feel of good quality. Most of the weight is coming from the wheels and base plate/trucks.
The suede leather of the boot is very soft and the wheels are very large and beautiful. Notwithstanding this, these beautiful Moxi Lolly roller skates look dainty and very pretty.
When trying them on, they fit snugly without any discomfort. They feel like trainers.
Our Best Skates review of the Moxi Lolly Roller Skates
These skates are manufactured in the United States and they are made up of high quality components.
The writer has done a significant amount of skating in these Moxi Lolly roller skates. The skates took no wearing in at all – they we comfortable from the first few moments of wearing them and continue to be.
With a shorter wheel base, the skates felt less easy to balance on when compared to the Moxi Beach Bunny. However, the writer got used to the change very quickly. The wheels are very large – possibly some of the largest on the market, at 65mm. The roll very easily over cracks and bumps, and can roll quite fast. The full wheel specifications are 65mm x 43mm with 78A hardness. The wheels are quite softer than some of the other options available meaning they roll over cracks and bumps with ease.
Once the trucks were adjusted for preference, the skates are easy to make turns in and to carve in generally. There is some flexibility with the softness of the boot and the flexibility in the trucks. They rank highest, in the writer’s opinion for being able to make turns and carve the floor/create lemons/skate in a sticky skating style (see our blog post here for further information on this style of skating: Skate like you are free and floating on air – sticky skating | Sophia Blogs
The writer used these skates throughout the Summer of 2022. It has to be noted that they do become dirty quite easily. However, they still look beautiful. The wheels can lose some of their ‘lollipop’ style/colour because these markings are only on the outside and not through the actual material. See picture below.
With the effect of rain and adverse weather on these skates, it’s a shame that they would not be suitable for bad weather. They would be great for use by people who live in hot climates or throughout the Summer in the UK. However, after continued use, the skates still look eye poppingly beautiful!
The skates provide a really smooth comfortable ride. They have soft cushions and really good quality bearings.
With the standard bearings installed, the wheels roll freely and for a sustained length of time. They are the best bearings that the writer has used to date.
The laces are soft and did not need to keep being retied.
Couple more points to consider if you are thinking about buying these lovely Moxi Lolly roller skates! It can be difficult to find the right size – especially if you are in between UK sizes. The writer is a 4.5 and purchased a US 6, which is equivalent of a UK 5. However, the writer can’t help but feel that the size was slightly too big and perhaps a smaller one (like US 5) would have been better – especially with the softness of the leather boot. It might be worth ordering from a shop which is happy to take returns.
Another point to note is that the toe stops on these skates do need to be tightened quite strongly. It is advisable to use a skating tool with three arms on it rather than the little crab tool which is supplied with the skates, so that enough grip and force can be used.

Best skates review – Moxi Lolly roller skates – Pros and Cons
Pros
- Good for beginners especially with the comfort and large wheels
- At circa £360, the price is at the higher end of the market. However, this is due to the high quality components and the fact they are made in America
- The colours are eye poppingly beautiful and attract a lot of attention and compliments
- They can be taken to the skate park or used in street skating without modification. (Skaters may wish to change the wheels first).
- The bearings are of really good quality on these skates – the wheels roll with little effort
- The wheels do roll over cracks relatively easily
Cons
- They are not suited to adverse weather conditions and the skates may become dirty quicker than some other styles
- The price is still significantly more than some other brands offer beginners, although it is noted that the quality of some parts of the skates is compromised, in the writer’s experience, in favour of the financial savings (such as lower quality bearings)
- The skates are not really an option for vegans – please see our Moxi Beach Bunny review here: Best skates product review and rating: Moxi Beach Bunny roller skates | Sophia Blogs
