9 Best Roller Skates for Women – some amazing options

We review the 9 best roller skates for women below with 9 being our preferred choice, including price, comfort, specifications, and our opinion. We hope you like this review!

1 – Lmnade Throwback Skates

Best roller skates for women
  • Wheel specifications: 58mm, hardness 82A
  • Wheel material: Urethane
  • Plate material – Aluminum
  • Wheel base – Short
  • Boot type: Microfibre faux leather
  • Vegan? Yes
  • Hardwearing? Yes
  • Bearings: Abec 5
  • Aesthetics: They come in a couple of colours but not as eye catching as some other brands
  • Adjustable toe stop: Yes
  • Price: circa £80

These skates provide very good value for money with a price of less than £100 and an adjustable toe stop and Aluminum plate. They are reviewed as extremely comfortable by many users. They would give a little more of a bumpy ride than, say, the Moxi Lolly or Beach Bunny, in terms of the wheel hardness, but this means they are slightly better for indoor skating than those brands. It’s a very affordable option for vegan skaters.

2 – Rio Roller Script Quad skates

  • Wheel specifications: 58-62mm (dependent upon size of skate), hardness 82A
  • Wheel material: Urethane
  • Plate material – Nylon
  • Wheel base – short
  • Boot type: Faux leather, nylon
  • Vegan? Yes
  • Hardwearing? Yes
  • Bearings: Abec 7
  • Aesthetics: Lovely pastel colours available
  • Adjustable toe stop: No
  • Price: circa £90

These skates come in beautiful pastel colours. They are at the affordable end of the market but the ride will be slightly more bumpy than the more expensive brands with 82A smaller wheels. The boot is expected to be hardwearing and to retain its shape and colour. They achieved 4.5 starts from reviewers on Amazon.

# 3 – Impala Quad Skates

  • Wheel specifications: 58mm, hardness 82A
  • Wheel material: Urethane
  • Plate material – Aluminum
  • Wheel base – Short
  • Boot type: PVC
  • Vegan? Yes
  • Hardwearing? Yes in general – note comments below
  • Bearings: ABEC 7
  • Aesthetics: These boots come in a variety of appealing styles/colours
  • Adjustable toe stop: No
  • Price: circa £92

The price of these skates is definitely at the more affordable end of the market. The toe stop is not adjustable but a beginner could easily get used to whatever position the toe stop is in. A beginner will not be focused on the height of the toe stop.

On the style pictured above, the PVC could potentially be scratched but they do many different styles so a PVC boot is not necessarily the only option.

The hardness of the wheel is at the harder end of the skates listed meaning the ride will be slightly more bumpy in the street.

# 4 – Moxi Lolly – best roller skates for women

The Moxi brand is known for its vintage look, and eye popping designs. The Moxi brand is very well known in America and world wide. At the more expensive end of the market, the ‘Lolly’ skate is a high quality option for beginners. Here are the Moxi Lolly specifications:

  • Wheel specifications: Gummy Wheels – 65mm, hardness 78A
  • Wheel material: Urethane
  • Plate material – Nylon
  • Wheel base – short
  • Boot type: Soft suede leather
  • Vegan? No
  • Hardwearing? The skate components are very hard wearing. The colour of the boot may become dirty/discoloured, especially in adverse weather conditions
  • Bearings: Kwick Abec 5
  • Aesthetics: Aesthetically really nice but note comments below
  • Adjustable toe stop: Yes
  • Price: circa £400

The Moxi Lolly’s components are very high quality. The skates are quite heavy, notwithstanding the nylon plate. They mould easily to the foot which means they benefit from no break-in time, but they can lose their ‘shape’ slightly, due to the softness of the leather.

They do not provide a lot of ankle support so may be less suited to someone who wants to learn to skate more aggressively at the skate park.

The wheels roll really effortlessly thanks to the bearings supplied. They also roll over cracks and bumps very easily making the Lolly an excellent skate for use in the street.

A drawback is that the toe stops sometimes loosen up while skating.

These skates did not achieve a higher ranking for beginners because they have a shorter wheel base which can make new skaters feel unstable.

5 – Best roller skates for women – Chaya Melrose Deluxe

Best roller skates for women beginners
  • Wheel specifications: 62mm, hardness 78A
  • Wheel material: Urethane
  • Plate material – Aluminum
  • Wheel base – Medium
  • Boot type: Textile composite
  • Hardwearing? Yes but note comments below
  • Vegan? Yes
  • Bearings: Wicked ABEC 7
  • Aesthetics: Available in a few different bright colours
  • Adjustable toe stop: No
  • Price: circa £120

These skates are available in really vibrant colours but the outer layer is textile so it’s possible they will become dirty in adverse weather. Chaya Melrose skates are typically extremely comfortable. In the writer’s opinion they are the most comfortable skates available.

The wheels will provide a nice smooth ride for outdoor skating. They provide good value for money.

6 – Moxi Roller Skates – The Rainbow Rider

The Rainbow Rider

The Rainbow Rider features the following specifications:

  • Drum dyed vinyl / vegan friendly
  • Made in China
  • Wheels: 58mm, 82A hardness
  • Base plate: Die-cast aluminium
  • Bearings: ABEC-5
  • Adjustable toe stops? Yes
  • Ideal for: wider feet
  • Price: £99
  • Can be used in the skate park? No

The Rainbow Rider is the most affordable Moxi skate on the market and it ranks well in our best roller skates for women review. It’s great for beginners on more of a budget. The bearings are just as good as some of the more expensive lines (below). The wheels are smaller making them less smooth over bumps but also great for dancing and the indoor skating rink.

7 – Best roller skates for women – Moxi Roller Skates – The Panther

Moxi Panther

The Panther skate features the following specifications:

  • Suede leather boot with additional PVC unit around the ankle
  • Made in America
  • Wheels: 58mm, 78A hardness
  • Base plate: Marvel aluminium
  • Bearings: ABEC-5
  • Adjustable toe stops? Adjustable powerdyne
  • Ideal for: medium width feet
  • Price: circa £235
  • Can be used in the skate park? Yes – this skate was designed for new skate park users

A variation to the Lolly in one respect is that this skate can be used more heavily at the skate park with the added ankle support. This will require more break in time than the Lolly, however.

# 8 – Moxi Beach Bunny – best roller skates for women

The Beach Bunny features the following specifications:

The Beach bunny is another great option for beginner skaters. It ranks at number 8 in our best roller skates review. Improvements/upgrades from the Rainbow Rider include the hardness of the wheels (a slightly softer wheel is included as standard), meaning a smoother ride over bumps and they can be used lightly at the skate park. They keep their shape very well so look eye poppingly beautiful for a long time! With their glitter wheels and careful colour combinations, they are also one of the more aesthetically beautiful options – if head turning is what is desired! The Beach Bunny can be used in all weathers which is great for people living in England!

# 9 – Chaya Melrose Elite

Chaya Melrose Elites provide very good value for money, offering the eye popping colour combinations to rival Moxi’s Lolly skates but at less than half the price. This is our preferred choice in our 9 best roller skates for women review. Their specifications are listed below:

  • Wheel specifications: Mellow Wheels – 62mm, hardness 78A
  • Wheel material: Urethane
  • Plate material – Nylon
  • Wheel base – short
  • Boot type: PU leather
  • Vegan? Yes
  • Hardwearing? The skate components are very hard wearing. The colour of the boot is likely to hold up even in adverse weather conditions.
  • Bearings: Wicked ABEC-9
  • Aesthetics: Aesthetically really nice
  • Adjustable toe stop: Yes
  • Price: circa £170

These skates are extremely affordable and very comfortable in terms of the more affordable end of the market. The skates can be cleaned easily. The wheels are a soft hardness meaning they are excellent for outdoor skating. However, the bearings provided could do with being upgraded – perhaps to the ones used in the Moxi Lolly skates which would allow them to roll a little faster/with less effort. Although extremely comfortable, the skates hold their shape very well. These are a very good option for beginner skaters.
