I tried Chaya Neons light up wheels!

There are lots of great light up wheels on the market currently and I thought I would give my favourite roller skate company, Chaya Melrose a go, with their Chaya Neons light up wheels. Read on if you would like to know how I got on with these!

The actual wheels come in a variety of beautiful colours currently – glittery neon pink, glittery neon blue, beautiful purple, white, glittery red and black. The light up colours given off each of these are detailed below. What’s nice about these ones is that the colour is reflective of the wheel colour. I am aware there are some examples of light up wheels where the colour of the wheel and the light it emits, differs – take Moxi Glow wheels for example.

These wheels are very beautiful as they include a very subtle glittery shimmer. You can see the colour of these as they are skated in, below. There is a very beautiful glow which can be seen from these wheels when they are lighting up:

The blue is very pretty too – as with the pink, they have a lovely glittery shimmer and they are very eye catching when being skated in:

Chaya Neons light up wheels – dimensions

These wheels are thick, large and soft, making them perfect for outdoor skating. This is something I absolutely love about them. It is very difficult to find such large light up wheels – not only does it make the skating more comfortable, but it also magnifies the effect of the illumination from them. The size of these wheels is as follows:

Diameter: 65mm

Width: 38mm

Hardness: 78A.

They are rather like the ‘Mallow Wheels’ which came with my original Chaya Melrose skates. They were very comfortable to ride on and I felt like I had a lot of control – turning was easy.

Chaya Neons light up wheels – fitting my new wheels…

I purchased the Neon Blue wheels and found fitting them easy but I discovered something interesting about the Chaya skate. I had originally suspected that my original Mallow wheels rolled a little bit slowly due to the bearings. However, I installed my Moxi Lolly bearings with these new wheels (which are renouned for rolling beautifully) and found that unless they are tightened a lot, they tend to pop off the frame easily. Therefore, the tightness and slow roll which I found was present in my original Mallow wheels, seemed to be necessary in order to ensure these wheels do not pop off. This seems to be an issue with the Chaya skate frame rather than the bearings or wheels. However, given how much I love the Chaya skates, how comfortable they are to skate in, and how beautiful and eye popping they are, especially with these new Chaya Neons light up wheels, I quickly overcame this slight disappointment.

I added my Chaya Neons glittery neon blue wheels to my pink Chaya Melrose skates and they looked very eye catching and beautiful just like the ones pictured above. They do remind me slightly of the Moxi Lolly Barbie skates with the combination of a pink skate with a blue wheel, although I found it very difficult to make up my mind about which colour wheels to buy, as I absolutely love the look of the pink light up wheels pictured above, too. I may end up buying another pair!
