Contraversy in issuance of points

Note there was some controversy in the issuance of points by the judges this year. The French pair were awarded a score which was significantly higher than the other skaters, by a judge who was French, despite some big errors in the technical components being noted by the panel. The same judge also awarded a score which was significantly lower than the average score of the remaining eight judges, to the American pair of skaters, Madison Chock and Evan Bates. This caused some uproar but the panel tried to persuade people that they should have confidence in the score and there are safeguards in place against spurious results.
