Suregrip Boadwalk Skates – first of all, what do we know about the brand, Suregrip?
The Suregrip brand manufactures skates in California. They assert they manufacture their products using only the best materials.
Suregrip was founded in 1937, and is a premier American roller skate brand, known for durable, high quality, skates. They are well known for their specific wheel technology.
The company was founded by John L Wintz and the company invented phenolic fiber wheels with rubber inlays, which revolutionised skating. He started off designing a pair of skates with rubber wheel inlays to expand and apply pressure to the inlay thereby f0 iving increased grip on corners. The technology was improved with CAD designs over the years and these tools are still being used today to create these amazing skates.
The skates tend to have rock plates or durable aluminium, together with adjustable toe stops.
The skates are known to be of high quality and they have a long lasting durability.

My thoughts on the skates
These Suregrip Boardwalk skates are a great beginner pair of skates. These skates are good for a wider fit and they are quite versatile. The wheels are ok but my personal opinion is that they could be changed out for something more suited to the skater’s particular style of skating. However the wheels they come with, like all the other fittings, are very good quality and will not need to be changed necessarily.
They can take a while to break in especially round the back of the ankle and the cushions could be upgraded to make an improvement on creating a smoother ride. Otherwise they are a great option for getting started in skating. I love the eye popping colours available and the generally soft suede they are made from.
The suede boot is comfortable and moulds to the skater’s foot nicely. They hold up well over time.
The skates use a nylon plate with aluminum trucks and this provides a nice balance between weigh and stability. More advanced skaters may wish to upgrade the nylon plate for more advanced tricks and jumping.
These skates are great for outdoor skating, rink skating and park skating to an extent. As mentioned, for more advanced park skating an upgrade to the nylon plates could be made.
