Skate set ups

It’s time for another beautiful skate set up

In this article i’m examining a lovely skate set up which I designed in photoshop! I’m going to let you have all the places and prices for the components which make up these lovely skates so you can go and recreate them yourself!

The skates

The skates being used here are some of my favourites – Moxy Lolly. They are a very high quality skate – the boot is lovely and soft and comfortable, having been constructed from natural suede. The skates pictured are in the popular colour of ‘Poppy Red’. I have got a pair of these in the original ‘Strawberry’ colour and I absolutely love them! The cost of these skates can vary – I did find a bargain – linked below. These are going for £219, but I can’t say how long they will be there for! There are only a few left at this price…

Skate set up – base plates!

I looked into options for upgrading your base plates. The standard base plates which come with the Moxi Lolly skates, are black nylon and they are perfect. If you wanted to upgrade them and/or switch the colour, you could try these…

These are made from nylon too. They were manufactured by Sure Grip, a very well respected brand in the skating community. These plates cost c.£75 plus postage for a pair.

Toe caps in this lovely skate set up…

The toe caps she is using look to be red suede. I did find some of these on Etsy – pictured below…

These look to be great quality. They are selling for c. £25 per pair. You will definitely want a pair of toe stops with the Moxi Lolly skates to keep them looking pristine!

Laces…

So the next thing you could change, although it’s hard to show them with photoshop because of the detailing, is the laces. I think yellow ones would look great. I found some laces pictured below:

These cost just £4.61 – get them before they are gone!!

What skate set up would be complete without……….Butterflies!!

What skate set up would be complete, without a lovely pair of butterflies? The ones pictured are being sold on Etsy, pictured below! You can get these in different sizes and they come in a variety of colours:

Larger butterflies 2.5 inches £3.51:

Smaller butterflies – £4.61 – 2 x 1 inches in size:

I also found larger ones, still – at 3.2 inches, here, for £4.62:

Toe stops!

In the picture I swapped out the standard toe stops for Moxi Lolly petal stops, pictured below:

These ones cost c.£23. They are currently showing as held in several people’s baskets, so they seem very popular on there – best get them before they are gone!

OK… Last but not least, WHEELS!

I’ve swapped out the standard ‘gummy’ Moxi Lolly wheels for a set of yellow glittery luminous wheels. The gummy wheels which come as standard with the Moxi Lolly skates are amazing – so swapping these wheels is not strictly necessary – many riders absolutely love the Moxi Gummy wheels. However, in order to complete the set up/look I have achieved, I found some lovely yellow glittery ones to go with the red and yellow theme. I’m using dyed coloured luminous wheels, with wheel diameter of 58mm. Their hardness is 85A so a nice balance of soft/hardness:

These are c.£35 from Oli’s skate shop, for a pack of four.

So there you have it! Another lovely skate set up, courtesy of ‘r/rollerskateaesthetic’ on Reddit.
