Great places to skate in the UK – Felixstowe

In this article I’m going to talk about another one of my favourite places to skate in the UK – Felixstowe beach. This beach has a long skatable strip, and some lovely facilities. Please read more below if you are planning a skating trip to this beach.

Great places to skate in the UK – Felixstowe beach

This is easily one of my favourite beaches and places to skate in the UK. I love to go there with my son. There are MANY great things about this beach – especially for a skater. You can pull up in a car right next to the sand and the beach stretches miles along a skatable path. The total path length is 2.7 miles. The path is peppered with places to stop and get something to eat or just some icecream! There are scenic gardens along the way to skate through and the beach still retains much of its natural beauty – it has not been completely commercialised.

There are two different types of ends of the beach path – the first is where dogs are welcome on the beach all year. Here’s a shot of the area in Felixstowe near the beach. The end I refer to is the bit near Woodbridge Haven. This is a great place to pull up right near the beach front and park there for free all day! It can become busy or difficult to find a space but I always managed to:

Here are some photos of this end of the beach path:

Just for info, some of the beach is covered in golden sand here, and other parts are covered in rocks and pebbles. There are some big boulders to climb on which my little boy loves!

The continuous pathway pictured above goes down towards the pier where you will find many restaurants, takeaway shops, little shops on the side of the path and the gardens along the beachfront. Here are some photos of the gardens and the pier end:

Felixstowe Beach – places to eat

I recommend the chip and kebab shop at the pier end of the beach ‘BBQ House’. It’s a tradition of mine to buy a well deserved kebab and chips and sit on the beach to eat them after a skating session at Felixstowe beach. Watch out for the seagulls – they love a chip or two!!

There are many other places to eat, however, including proper restaurants and cafes. A pier restaurant can be seen on the pier stretching out over the sea.

Down beyond the pier you will find some little rides for children. My son has enjoyed going on these quite a few times although I secretly hate them – I just prefer naturally beautiful scenery at the beach and the smell of the sea air – that’s enough for me.

I’ve copied below a link to a video showing a tour of the beach. I hope to also add below, a video of me skating there – this will hopefully follow soon!
